JD is one of the most beautiful and visual songwriters I know, his lyrics fit me like a glove.

Vol. 1
Joyful, re-imagined R&B/soul classics celebrating James 'JD' Day's 20th anniversary collection.
The joy these songs represent is bittersweet as at least one of its featured collaborators, ‘80s soul great, Gavin Christopher, has since passed on. And, JD’s own health condition, Ménière's Disease, a debilitating illness which causes diminishing hearing loss over time, has worsened since some of JD’s gems from 2006’s Better Days album was first introduced. As a result, revitalizing these jams for this 20th anniversary time capsule took four years, with each tune lovingly reimagined with Day only having partial hearing in one ear.

I’m very selective about the songs I place my voice and keyboard work on, but in my opinion it’s impossible for JD to write a bad tune.

I can't imagine ever not wanting to sing a song written by James Day.

Hearing the demos of the songs got me interested from the start. JD is a thorough artist/writer that knows exactly what he wants and that makes it easier for us to interpret what we should contribute.
